Ailurophobia... The Fear of Cats

Hello readers,

I haven't had many inspirational moments lately so I'm sorry if these posts are not interesting. I honestly don't know why I picked this topic. I just know that one of my friends really likes cats and definitely does not have this phobia.

Now, as many of you may know, cats are a common pet. They don't really do much except for eat, sleep, and hunt. Sometimes they bring unpleasant gifts to your door after they go hunting.

Something that you may of may not know is that they were a big part of Egyptian history and many people even believe that the Egyptian people worshipped them. Cats were a symbol of grace and poise because they could control vermin and kill snakes such as cobras.

If you read one of my other friend's blog (Maddie, I have mentioned her before in my blog post about Triskaidekaphobia the fear of the number 13), you know that she is a huge cat fan. She loves cats than any other human being I have ever met.

Cats can be a very broad term. Panthers, cheetahs, and tigers are all cats but we don't think of them that way. So if someone says they have ailurophobia, they may be talking about the bigger cats. But I highly doubt that any of us have come across such an animal that is not in a zoo.

A fear of cats can come about different ways. You could have a freak cat accident as a child or just not like cats. Everyone is different.

I personally don't mind cats. I don't particularly like them and they don't particularly like me. On the other hand, my mom is really allergic to cats and can't touch them without having an allergic reaction.

That's about it.

Enjoy.

Forgetting...

"I see you driving 'round town with the girl I love and I'm like forget you!"-Cee Lo Green
This is fun song to sing when you are really pissed off at someone. Fortunately, this doesn't have much to do with me.

I recently finished the book The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. This series is about four friends and a pair of magical pants. The four friends names are Tibby, Carmen, Lena, and Bridget (or as everyone calls her, Bee). I will let you read about them if you want to in the books but for the purpose of this post, I should explain some things about the girls.

This post has to do with the fourth book in the series Forever in Blue. And for the quote I am going to write to make sense, you need to know about two characters: Lena and Carmen.

Carmen is the dramatic one in the group but she sometimes gives the best advice.

Lena is the artistic one. She loves art and she is patient. She is also trying to forget about a boy she met in Greece named Kostos.

"I have this weird premonition that as soon as you forget about Kostos, you are going to see him again."-Carmen

This becomes true later in the book but that isn't the reason I used this quote for this post.

Have you ever forgotten about something and then remembered it unexpectedly?

This is common because no matter how hard you try, you won't forget most things.

An interesting fact about remembering is that the sense of smell triggers the most recollection. For instance, I have this perfume that reminds me of my childhood. I don't know what the smell it's from but it brings back memories. Once I can smell it anymore, I forget the smell.

But its hard to forget. Especially the bad stuff.

Enjoy!!!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

I can already tell what your first guess was about this post. No, this post is not about the hilarious TV show. It is about what being a friend means.
Friends Quotes

This is a great acronym. It really defines what being a friend means. Everyone needs a friend who does all of these things:
F: Fight for you. Friends should always be willing to take the blame if they know that their friend really needs them too.
R: Respect you. They respect your space, thoughts and dreams. No matter what you want or need, they will respect you.
I: Include you. If you are being excluded from a project by the other people in your friend's group, your friend should help you to be included even though it might mean that they will be less popular.
E: Encourage you. Not only will they respect your goals, they will help you reach them even if they are silly.
N: Need you. A true friend will call you at any hour of the day if they need something. They will call and talk to you because they need someone who will talk, help or even just listen to their problem.
D: Deserve you. A friend should be someone that proves that they will be a good friend. This means that they won't ditch you for other people.
S: Stand by you. If someone teases you, your friends should be there to stand up for you no matter what the situation.

A true friend should do most of these things. But you also have to remember that this has to go both ways. You can't expect someone to be very respect you if you don't respect them. Treat others how you want to be treated.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post. I will post more next week.

Metrophobia... The Fear of Poetry

Are you experiencing some of the symptoms of metrophobia?

There are many people in the world. There is not one thing that can please everyone. It may come as a shock to you but not everyone likes the same movies, sports, and music that you do *gasp*. I give you a second to think this through.

Wait for it...

Now that you have finally proceed this valuable information, you can now understand that some people can not stand the rhythm of verse. It may even be to the extent that it becomes a serious issue. This phobia, like most phobias, must have stemmed from a terrifying childhood memory.

Anyways, I got this idea for this post from my English class today. We are just starting to read the play Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. First, our teacher split us up into the two houses: Capulet and Montague (I am a Montague, the family that Romeo is from). Then he had us create Shakespearean insults which we got to yell at the other house. It was quite fun.

When you first read something that Shakespeare wrote, it is difficult to understand.Today's English is very different from Elizabethan English.

There are so many different forms of entertainment than there was back then. The most common form of entertainment was theater. The Globe Theater in England sat around 2,000 people and the cheapest seats, surprisingly enough, were on the ground.

But as entertainment got more elaborate and complex, theater was left for movies and music. It is so interesting how different forms of art can make such different impressions on people. Some people find classical music relaxing and beautiful while others find it boring and dull. It all depends on your preference.

Here's a fun fact: Shakespeare is credited for creating over 10,000 words in the English language.

Movies... What's the Point?

Have you ever seen a new movie and thought, "I know how this will end"?

I am here to tell you that this will never change. Unless somebody makes a movie ends with everyone dying or tortured, you will mostly be able to predict the end.

I would like to mention a man who actually took the time to find out and record the different stages of any type of movie, Joseph Campbell. He even wrote a book on it called A Hero With A Thousand Faces. This book depicts every similarity that movies and stories can have. After taking a look at this model, I have a pretty good idea as to how to predict a movie’s end.

But I know that everyone has a movie that defies the rule. A movie that they think is the best, most well made motion picture out there. We all have our favorites that have us on our toes the entire time. It may be a love story or James Bond, but what ever movie it is, there is some original quality that makes it, well... perfect.

If you have taken a look at the movies that are currently in theaters, there is not one G rated, kid friendly movie. All the movies that are out are full of action, guns, and gore which is perfect if you love that kind of stuff but not if you are looking for something to do as a family. Plus, most of the movies out are about some retake or combination of movies that already exist.

Why do people watch movies in the first place? So they can forget about their life and escape to another world? I have a great idea. Why not read a book...

I found this quite amusing.

Who is Important to You?

Who are the most important people in your life?
Your family!

No matter what you do, where you go, or who you become, they will always love you. They have a large portion of their heart that they devote to you.

If you are a teenager, you know all too well that parents can be mean, unsympathetic, and upsetting, but they are just trying to do what is best for you. They are quite smart, they have already been through what you are going through now.

They give great advice about friends, boys, and school because they know what you are thinking. Trust me, if they pay attention, which they do, they will know how you react to certain situations, even when you do not.

Don't push your family away. They are your biggest fans and supporters. Pushing them away is like pushing away your past. Even if you think they are just holding you back, they really are motivating you to become a better person.

Arachibutyrophobia... The Fear of Peanut Butter Sticking to the Roof of Your Mouth

If you were told that you could only have one food choice for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

This is a common question that is asked on the first day of school when you were little. You know, the questions that they ask to get to know you and your classmates better.

I think that I would pick a nice peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This has been my favorite food since I was little. I ate it almost everyday!

I understand that if you are allergic to peanuts, you will never know what a creamy peanut butter and jelly sandwich tastes like. But you can come fairly close with a banana and butter sandwich (which are also quite good). If you choose not to read on, I understand.

I got the idea for this post from my sisters book of 5,000 facts (again) and also one of my other friend's blog What Nobody Needs to Know (But I Still Share). Go ahead, visit her blog, I’ll wait. Now that you’re back, I’ll continue. I sit with her at that table every other day. It really is a great spot to sit. It really has a perfect view of the lunchroom.

If you have ever experienced the taste of a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich, you know that you take the risk of having peanut butter stick to the roof of your mouth. That is, if you put too much peanut butter on the sandwich. Personally, I would rather have too much peanut butter on a sandwich than not enough! If you put on too much jelly the bread gets soggy.

If you think about it, it really isn't a horrible risk too take when you just want to enjoy a delicious snack.

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy...
